Wrablers Rehearsal Notes of meeting on Tuesday 27 October 2026.
Attendees: JB, CS, ID, MM, PS, PV, RM, RS, SC, WT
Absent: MR, LS
Rooming issues meant Men/ Women’s songs were moved to the end of agenda.
1. Warm up song
Africa – sang it through but stopped often.
Mid-section to end with attention on bars 104-115 (130-141)
It was useful to be able to continue work on CODA because of the above room swap. – It needed time but still did not work. – JB to send a Plan B for [see her second email 29.10.2026 deleted bars].
2. Robin’s narrative
Robin stood in for Marcus and Wendy for Louli. – Coming on nicely. – Robin’s verdict: Learn our [English] words and project more to deliver with gusto.
3. Dance – moves with song: postponed to next week.
4. Songs that needed work:
a) Rhythm of Life – final section
We also worked through word-heavy lines and sang whole song. Went very well. Many lyrics to be learnt!
b) Uptown Funk – from S1 ‘rap’ lines onwards.
We got there slowly with these bars but song needs more work to gel.
From Rob:
Make song lighter. Re: the phrase ‘Uptown Funk you up, uptown funk you up’ the emphasis is even and NOT on ‘funk’.
c) It Don’t Mean a Thing – ending
We sang it all the way through. It felt better after a faulty beginning (two different lines being sung in Alto but Rob corrected Max) and then focused on the end. We were tired but managed to the end!
d) Take Five – postponed to next week
5. Men/ Women’s songs
Rob stayed with women’s songs.
a) Men – worked without Marcus. Anything to report?
b) Women
Bring Me Little Water Sylvy – sang well.
Vox Vibe – Coming together slowly: we worked on whole song, especially on final bars.
From Rob:
stress on ‘Bah doo bah lines’ should be more evenly distributed as we are overemphasising ‘doo’.
