Notes from Wrablers Rehearsal 26 May 2026

This was an unusual rehearsal in many ways. There were only 6 singers, and no Rob S. The plan at this late date was to sing any songs that we considered needed work. There was no warmup, the girls had spent 30 minutes from 18.30 practicing their songs, and Peter and I are super fit.

The chairman had emailed a suggested list of likely problem songs and we basically worked through most of the list. Because of 3 absent men, no men-only songs were sung

Seal Lullaby: (a popular choice!) We concentrated on entries, some of Rob’s interpretations from previous weeks and the Oohs of the last 2 pages. At the end of this segment, we sang oohs off-copy. Good for morale.

Shenandoah: We concentrated on tricky bits like singing key word “Shenandoah” (well, its sometimes tricky for basses), transition bars (27-29). We agreed that this song needed more rehearsal time and more Rob S input.

Wullie and Lovely: sang through several times. No great issues arose.
“Wullie” had a little discussion about the timing of the 2 Mmmms
“Lovely” practice was useful for basses because it is quite tricky.

The general approach was very relaxed, and rehearsing parts that singers found tricky in a “more off the cuff” manner proved very useful to everyone.
