Rehearsal Notes 2 June 2026

We did walk through the staging of the first 5 songs. It was the first time so of course we will get slicker.

We didn’t sing the first 5 songs in gig mode – instead we worked on them as we went along.

We are starting to get scratchy and irritable in the run-up to the gig. Peter made the observation that at this point we shouldn’t be expecting perfection, but striving to do our best, which is plenty good enough for a performance. We can finesse things, but let’s not get lost in the detail.

Waterloo Sunset

There was some shuffling about of the Terry/Julie lineup resulting in:

STAGE LEFT Wendy/Peter, Max/Colin, Philip/Louli, Marcus/Juliana, Sandy/Robin STAGE RIGHT

So we will need to arrange ourselves in appropriate order to file two by two from the green room.

Clarification: We stand back to back with our partners until ‘Dirty old river’ when we turn to face the audience.

Lovely on the Water

Pretty lovely. No changes needed, except a correction to a repeated mistake in the Altos (they know where it is)

Marcus’s birthday was duly celebrated!

Crossing the Bar

Rob directed us, and we followed his direction. I’m not going to try and write down the dynamics. Just to say, what we did was different to Phil and Louli’s notes in places. A recording was made and has been circulated. So, we need to watch Rob. He was quite pleased, whilst remarking ruefully it has taken us 8 years to follow his direction…. Sigh.

Deep River

Sounds lush!

Sto Mi e Milo

The 3 Wrablerettes valiantly sang through this, approximating a 7/8 rhythm. Rob was grimacing a bit. It was helpful in learning the words.

AOB

1. Who announces what was finalised, with people being volunteered in their absence. I will send out the updated Stage Prompt.

2. Make Music Day – Songs and parts distribution have been circulated. We have a viable choir, yay! Colin is going to learn Tenor for Waterloo Sunset, so that song can remain in the set.
