Present: SC, JB, RM, MR, PS, WT, PV, ID, RS
Absent: MM, LS, CS

Warm Up: We did Botox lips to help with the singing of Heartbeat Rhythm (ie good enunciation). It worked I think.

Heartbeat Rhythm
Worked on bars 33-end. Claps needed tidying up and I think we got there eventually. This one is pretty much there. Let’s show it off to Jamie on Sunday at the all day.

It Don’t Mean a Thing
We ran through a couple of times, particularly focusing on the tricky runs and rhythms. Everyone take a look at the bar with the triplets at the end (88-99) and also 91-94 and work on these before Sunday.

Irene did her audition with Peter on bass, Marcus on tenor and Sandy on alto. Very tricky song for an audition but she did well and stuck with it. Some said (I couldn’t possibly comment) that she helped Peter, Marcus and Sandy stick to their parts. Anyway, it was a very good effort. Next came Irene’s solo, which was a different version of Bring Me Little Water Sylvie. Lots of verses! Well carried off. Wrablers present approved. Well done Irene – a challenging experience, bravely faced!

Vox Vibe
This is so very nearly there. Just a few tiny rhythmic issues on the Sop 1 and Sop 2 part, which were ironed out. Very important to observe the staccatto dop bops.

One for My Baby
Chaps reported this went well. Important to try to get off book in order to watch each other’s cues and entries. Staggered entries in particular not quite right yet. Further research needed.

Rhythm of Life
We only had a short time on this so we worked on the harmonies in bars 79-81 which Rob was concerned about. And more generally on bars 73-90.

Africa
The one we’d all been ….. anticipating. It went remarkably well for its first outing in several years and despite being new to a few. Rob declared it ‘easy’, having worked with the sops and altos on the tricky runs and been mostly satisfied. People may find it easier re the structure to use the original sheet music. When you’re working on it, please focus on the CODA.
Dance
We ran through the whole sequence of moves on this, admirably led by Marcus.

I think this is how we’ve decided to divvy up the parts, but please let me know if I’ve got it wrong:

Group 1
Peter
Max
Louli
Sandy

Group 2
Phil
Wendy
Robin

Group 3
Juliana
Marcus

Everyone will do Group 1 at some point… Keep working on it. Marcus may be able to film himself do the whole sequence and share it with us. Let’s see…

Christmas Meal Venue
Fish is closed this Xmas, so please suggest alternatives, if possible, somewhere more central than Diyarbakir Kitchen in Green Lanes, which, although delicious, may not be GF and is not that handy for our South Londoners.
