Minutes Rehearsal [22 September 2026]

TAKE FIVE: Getting better, but timing, phrasing and subtle note variations need close attention
IT DON’T MEAN A THING: Good 1st outing – generally need to get into the swing of it. Note, although it seems naturally obv. Bar 91/2 only sing swing once.
I GOT RHYTHM: Rob sat in with us and focused on first few lines to get timing right and transition from bar 60 into 61-68 with different phrasing a stumbling point. And of course missed Peters input.
BRING ME A LITTLE WATER: Girls seemed to manage without Rob, so it must be going in the right direction
HEARTBREAK RHYTHM: Moving along well, just need to be off book to carry out clapping at beginning but heart thumping CPR from bar 33 was working well, Phil holding the bass with aplum [sic]. Not mentioned yet but note the p to mf bars 25 – 28.
UPTOWN FUNK: Rob asked us to keep the tempo up to drive this high energy song along and articulate words.
DANCE MOVES: Marcus, once again, led us into tempo[tation] hallelujah right through 1 -3. There seems to be an organic decision making for who does what when. To be formalised at some point. All went well after from outburst from chair tactfully subdued by Marcus Aurelius Subdudius.
AOB: Flyer/poster unanimously approved and thanks to Peter for artwork. QR code needs updating before distributing. JB to ask Peter to amend before Colin can initiate on Ticket Tailor for advance bookings.
Irene seemed to enjoy herself and joined in on some of the songs and quite rightly recused herself from the Dance moves!! And will be coming back.
October 3rd performers to meet again next week at 6.30 to focus on Iqude, White Winter Hymnal, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay. Java Jive nice.
