Notes from Wrablers Rehearsal 21 April 2026

Patric Spens

Still some stubborn difficulties with holding parts – suggest some focused homework

Bridge over Troubled Water
Pronounce t in water English way, not N American
Rhythms in girls’ lead lines bars 71-84 need solidifying.
Singin in the rain
Last doodle doot doot, altos join soprano line, and all slow down
Final chord needs solidifying
Bar 43 entry taking some by surprise – beware
Anahorish
Sound the t and not too clipped on “water” (bar 2) – relaxed
No breath through “soft gradient of consonant”
Dynamics:
– swell the slip-sliding chords in “washed” a little (bar7)
– a little louder / more movement on “with pails…”
AOB
Autumn schedule: start fortnightly rehearsals from July 7, weekly from 1 Sept, all day rehearsals 11 Oct and 15 Nov.
Rep gang will decide song order for winter gig to jive with Robin’s narrative, rather than the customary all-hands bunfight.
Some concern expressed over perceived increase in songs needing piano accompaniment, whereas (some) usually prefer a capella. Rep gang to keep in mind when next selecting rep.
Phil has advertised for new members on 4 Facebook groups (thank you Phil); posts getting some engagement / comments, but no expressions of interest yet (boo).
