A good rehearsal and focused.
In general raise the scores if you are using and look at Rob straight ahead – ie avoid singing with head looking down or looking up to the clouds!
1. Bridge Over Troubled water
- Good run through
- dynamics to be worked on at ALL DAY (Sunday 17 May)
2. Singing in the Rain
- Start riff – sing Doots in staccato
- End of words like Rain, Again, Love – sing the consonant on the beat, ensure space for the rest, raise the volume slightly on the end of the word
- Bar 16 breathe as follows: feeling (breathe) I’m (rest) happy again’
- Don’t swoop in general on I’m singing in ..
- DO Swoop bar 54 on I’m singing
3. Waterloo sunset
- Bass – at the start give energy to the words Night and River
- Bass – bar 56/57 – swarming like flies round – agreed ‘like’ is one note and go down on flies
- Bass – bar 63 is mezzo sop
- Dums in the score pronounced Doom not Dumb
4. Down to the River
- bar 3 Alto +Tenor – sing this as a triplet
- ending ‘Lord show me the way’ – watch Rob, slow down and hear the lovely chord
5. Anahorish
- increase volume on ‘pails and barrows..’
- soften up on ‘in mist’
6. AOB – number of songs with piano accompaniment
- Concern expressed at the number of songs with accompaniment – 2 peeps would prefer up to 2 per gig no more, 6 peeps are cool with 3, (or more where it is integrated)
- JB research shows only 3 piano acc, in each of the last gigs (where there have been 16 to 19 songs presented)
- Action
- Agreed maximum is 3 songs with piano with some flexibility
- At the point where Rep gang review songs the number with piano will be assessed (chair suggests once reviewed Rep gang inform the choir)
- Suggestion – place songs with piano towards the end of the gig, or set
