Chair: PS Venue: TfL Palestra Time: 18.45 for 19.00 start
Attendees: CS, JL, LS, MR from 8pm, MX, PS, RM, WT, RS, and Kerry Donovan (observer)
Apologies: JB, MJM, AM, MS
Warm-up song: Java Jive
A fair performance; basses have most of the melody and should improve phrasing; all need to improve intonation in penultimate bar (64)
Moonlight Serenade (2)
consonants (often d or t) should be voiced just ahead of the final beat of a long note; basses: avoid swooping up to notes eg entering bars 12, 24 etc; tenors: check melody in bars 30-33
Mack the Knife (1)
LS moving to tenor part (RS prefers not to lower the key); not too bad for first time, but much more homework needed, particularly on the ending from bar 96
Don’t Get Around Much Anymore (2)
replace “doo doo doo doo” with “doo doo doo wah” throughout; solo: shorten final word of opening phrases (eg “dance”, “floor”); make intonation more precise; all: much more homework needed on middle section (bars 17 – 24)
