Attendees:
Juliana, Louli, Marcus, Peter, Philip, Robin, Sandy, Wendy
Apologies:
Colin, Max.
Songs: points to note:
1. Willie’s Rare:
a. All sing opening bars 1 to 12, thereafter as written, i.e. bars 1-12 to be sung again but only by Sopranos, other parts join as per the score.
b. Watch Rob for the tempo.
c. Humming bar 63 to the end: follow Rob’s direction on when to move on each note.
2. Dock of the Bay:
a. Bars 9, 21, 25, 41: Sops and Tenors have different rhythm to Altos and Basses: Rob asked all to enunciate words clearly and in the correct rhythm for each part at these bars, otherwise it will sound as if we are out of synch/incorrect.
b. Be careful to avoid swooping on bars 17 to 20 (S, A, B)
c. Emphasise ‘w’ on bars 29 to 34 (S, A, B)
3. Iqude:
a. Both Rob and Louli had suggestions for how this might be sung.
b. We:
i. Sang through as written first.
ii. Then tried out starting with Alto solo section A, repeat with second Alto joining, repeat with Tenors and Basses joining, each repeat sung slowly and quietly, then back to the beginning all parts as written, a tempo.
iii. Also tried all parts clapping their line from section E to the end.
iv. Still working on how it will be performed, Rob to decide.
c. Note in bars 33, 34, 35, 38 and 39: the note values for ‘We’ and ‘Ku’ are the same, so we need to hold ‘Ku’ and not shorten it.
4. Patrick Spens:
a. Don’t forget correction bar 14: not sea, but SKY b. Note the final four lines are not on the sheet music but are on Patrick-Spens-arr-Pratt.pdf
5. Sto Mil e Milo (Women):
a. First outing
b. Some initial concerns re part allocation but Rob happy with the sound.
c. Practiced at a speed slower than performance.
6. Deep River (Men):
a. First outing
