Chair: Annie
Guest Mike Guida unable to attend – hope he can observe 3rd September.
N.B. 3RD September, Annie is on holiday, venue will be Palestra, Robin is Chair. Robin will email a reminder.
Colin and Annie will liaise to enable Colin to collect keyboard from GOOD on 3rd Sep.
Robin’s birthday was celebrated with traditional honours.
Rob held off his jetlag with élan.
Java Jive
The tempo has been speeded up a bit, as while Rob commended us on our swing 😊, we were a bit languid.
The low split on the alto has been officially dropped.
Dynamics, a bit more positive push on the lyric lines, so we can drop back on a ‘a cup a cup’ sections, to give more contrast.
Don’t Get Around Much Anymore
Sterling lead work from Colin. Change to all backing ‘doo doos’ . They are now (for the avoidance of doubt)
Doo doo doo da
Doo doo doo da
Doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo da
For the B part ‘Oh Darling’ Colin will come in on the beat with all the backing parts (suggestion courtesy Marcus). No change for anyone else. This section (Bars 17 to 24) proved elusive for a few. Much practice with ALL robot track required!
Moonlight Serenade
Sops, note that your F at bars 9 and 21 should be a # not a natural as shown (the robots get it right?) First time out shaky in places but not too bad for first outing with absences.
Chattanooga Choo Choo
Was bit rusty. Needs to swing. Enunciate clearly but start less loudly at start of phrases ‘don’t push the one.’ E.g. ‘read a MAGAZINE. Not ‘READ A MAGAZINE.
Men’s’ ‘Who me?’ line will be delivered by Colin for BASS and Marcus for TENOR.
