Musical Director

Wrablers are a 12-member mixed voice acapella choir who meet to rehearse fortnightly (on Tuesdays, 7-9pm) at a central London location. In the six weeks prior to performances, we meet weekly.
We perform twice a year, usually in June/July and November/December and perform a mixture of songs ranging from pop, through jazz to folk and world music. We are a secular choir.
We are member-led, but would like to change this arrangement to have a musical director help us work on our technique and performance skills on a regular basis.
The director would ideally:
1. Attend rehearsals regularly
2. Allocate parts for songs based on the membership at the time
3. Introduce songs to the group and have a view on how the song should be performed
4. Lead the group to ensure that the songs are performed according to the agreed vision for the song
5. Help the group to work on any sections of the song that are problematic
6. Help the group work on performance skills
The director may wish to:
1. Suggest and introduce new songs to the repertoire
2. Work with individuals on their vocal skills
3. Suggest new members for the group based on the membership of the group and potential vacancies
4. Attend performances and conduct the group
The group will continue to
1. Select the repertoire
2. Take responsibility for learning songs by ear from MP3 files generated by musical notation software prior to rehearsal
3. Be responsible for all group admin (emails, organising venues, performances etc)
